Albatros Music - We Are A San Francisco based 70's cover band

Albatros are one of the most popular cover bands in San Francisco. Made up of five professional musicians who have been playing together for years they have built their reputation by playing the best music of the seventies. The seventies probably had the widest variety of musical styles of any decade which gives them a very extensive set list. Whether you are into disco or punk rock or anything in between they can play it so you should have no trouble finding something for your event.

Like most cover bands Albatros would form as musicians who saw their other bands break up went looking for a place to play. In this case it was guitarist Jeff Hill who would be the catalyst. After the band that he had been playing broke up he called up bassist Jurger Berners who he had met over the years playing at clubs around San Francisco. Berners was looking for a band to join himself and Albatros was formed.

When they first formed Albatros the intention of Hill and Berners was to play original songs that they had written themselves. They had lots of material since they had both been writing songs over the years. They found a singer in Ronald Collins and a Drummer in Krista Scott and set out to make their name around the Bay Area, Deirdre Roberts would join them later. Finding places to play proved to be a challenge in the early days as there were lots of other unknown bands around the San Francisco area competing for gigs. As a result the members spent most of their time working other jobs and a break up looked like it would be inevitable.

The only thing that saved the band from the same fate that most new bands suffer was that they were offered a job playing covers at a party. This wasn't something that they particularly wanted to do but they needed the money so they put a set list together and took the job. The show went well and they were soon being offered other gigs as a cover band. Ultimately they had to face the fact that they were a cover band and they wouldn't be playing original songs. This has proved to be a good decision as they have now been playing together for years.

It turned out that becoming a cover band was the best thing that they could have done, they were soon able to become fulltime musicians and give up their jobs. This has allowed them to spend the time that it takes to become a really good cover band and they have used that to build a reputation around the San Francisco area. They focus on playing songs from the seventies but since that covers a huge variety they are able to play a wide number of different styles. This makes them a good choice for any function that you may have.
